Passion Sunday

Scripture: Acts 2, Exodus 34:22, Matthew 28:18

March 22, 2026 — 5th Sunday of Lent (Passion Sunday)

Today at Loxa Presbyterian Church, we gathered for the 5th Sunday of Lent—Passion Sunday—as we continue preparing our hearts for Easter.

A special thank you to Gary Stephen for sharing today's message and guiding us through three powerful passages: Acts 2, Exodus 34:22, and Matthew 28:18.

In Exodus 34:22, we are reminded of the importance of remembering and honoring God through seasons of worship and thanksgiving. The Festival of Weeks called God's people to pause and recognize His provision.

In Acts 2, we see that moment fulfilled in a deeper way. During Pentecost—rooted in that same festival—God pours out His Spirit on His people. What was once a celebration of harvest becomes a powerful movement of the Spirit, bringing unity, boldness, and new life.

Then in Matthew 28:18, Jesus declares, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." This is the foundation of our faith. The same God who calls us to remember, who fills us with His Spirit, now sends us forward with purpose, confidence, and authority.

Together, these scriptures remind us that faith is not only about remembering what God has done—but living in what He is doing right now. We are called to worship, to be filled, and to go.

Remember in Prayer:

We lift up those in our church family and community who are in need of God's comfort, healing, and strength. Please keep in your prayers: Don Pankey's wife, Janice Hanley LaBougeois, Dana Shick, Joyce Warner, Kyle Walters, Sue Elliot, Ann Roley, Megan Symonds, Brendan, Jesse, Jeff King, Damien White, Karl Nelson, Emily's friend Jamie, Jodi Ellison, and Jared.

We also pray for Gary Stephen and his ministry—that he may continue to reach and encourage those who need to know the love of God. Let us not forget to pray for leaders in our homes, our church, our community, and our nation, that they may be guided with wisdom, humility, and faith.

As we continue our Lenten journey, may we seek peace where it is possible and trust God with the rest.

Let us continue to be a church that supports one another through prayer, encouragement, and love.

"Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice." — Psalm 105:3
